If you are Erasmus student, who wishes to study at the Jagiellonian University please read information on the website very carefully and follow the instructions.

Course offer and fees

ERASMUS students may attend all courses taught in Polish and the non-degree programmes in English free of charge.
Courses taught in English in the framework of fee-paying degree programmes are available only for a limited number of Erasmus students.

Application procedure

If you want to study as Erasmus student at the Jagiellonian University, you should first contact the Erasmus coordinator at your home university, and ask to be nominated. Then your home university coordinator should send us an official message. After receiving an official nomination, we will contact each nominated student and ask him/her to complete an application on the website:

Please read and answer questions in the application form very carefully!

 

On-line registration for the Summer/ Second semester 2012/2013 will be open from June till November 2012.

 

After filling the application please print the form and confirm with stamp and signature of your home Erasmus coordinator.

Then please send to our International Students Office UJ the confirmed application form with Language Proficiency form (or copy of a language certificate B1/B2 level). If you are native speaker of English or Polish you do not need to attach the certificate.

Learning Agreement

It is also required that the departamental co-ordinators at both the home (your University) and the host institution (Jagiellonian University) approve the student's programme of study using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)Learning Agreement.

Questions concerning the ECTS Learning Agreement and all other enquiries should be addressed to the departamental ERASMUS coordinators from the respective faculty or institute.

Application deadlines

Please register on-line before the deadlines:
May 30, 2012 for autumn term 2012/2013 (starts on October 1st, 2012)
November 30, 2012 for spring term 2012/2013 (starts on February 23rd, 2013)

 

Registration for studies and legal documents

Once accepted, the student will be provided with an information pack with an official acceptance letter and other practical information regarding living and studying in Krakow. They will receive this by post preceded by an email with confirmation.

After arrival to Kraków, international students should register themselves in the International Students Office for the studies at the Jagiellonian University. To register sucesfully students should bring their ID card, insurance card (or any valid document confirming their insurance), photo and any document that student might need to be confirmed upon arrival and registration.

Once registered at the Jagiellonian University students will be given the following documents:

  • Student ID card: a green plastic rectangle card with a photo, a document issued by the unit to which a student has been admitted. It is valid if a hologram is affixed to it for the periods from 1st October to 31st March and from 1st April to 31st October. It entitles its holder to library use, concession fares on public transport in the city, concession rail fares (if owner is under 26 years of age) and to concessions in cultural institutions (theatres, museums, etc).
  • Examination card: a yellow paper with its holder's photograph containing a list of courses taken as well as credits and marks obtained in a student's course of study. It is an essential document recording a course of study.

Insurance

International students at the Jagiellonian University must have isurance that is valid in Poland.

Jagiellonian University does not provide any health insurance for students !

EU students should have their own insurance valid for the territory of European Union (for example European Health Insurance Card or other).

Students from other countries than from European Union should obtain medical care/health insurance from their home country; or hold a European Health Insurance Card; or sign an individual medical care agreement directly with an insurer (e.g. National Health Fund, ul. Batorego 24, call centre: (+48) (12) 19488; Falck, call centre: 19675; PZU Życie S.A., call centre: 0801 111 811, etc.). The monthly cost of individual insurance is about 50 PLN.

Visa

Visa requirements depend on on your citizenship. Some international students require passport and student visa to enter Poland, while others only requuire a visa if they arrive in Poland with the intention of studying, even if they do not need one to cross the border.

For information about the visa procedure for non EU citizens, please contact the Polish Consulate in your home country.

After registration in International Students Office, you should register at the Department of Nationals' and Foreigners' Affairs, address: ul. Przy Rondzie 6, ground floor (foreigners' affairs room).

Housing

Erasmus students may apply for a place in the student dormitory together with the main application via online application.

University halls of residence

We offer shared (double) rooms available usually in the Piast dormitory (ul. Piastowska 47, Kraków). The cost per person is currently 345 zł per month, including internet access.

Please note, that we are not able to offer housing to all international students and reservation of the places for Erasmus students is made at random.

 

Private housing

The cost ofrent for private housing ranges between 300 and 2000 złoty, depending on whether you are sharing a room/flat, and with how many people, how far from the centre the flat is, and other room/flat conditions.

Fees

Erasmus students are waved from paying the study fees, however this does not always apply to English and Polish language courses.
